14 January 2005: New 9/11 Truth Movement commentaries

The latest two commentaries from Angieon911.com offer some timely food for thought, and I largely agree with both.

"Grand Coalition" Strategy (for 911 & E-Voting Activists) is Bogus (alternate link)

For the first few weeks after the "election", I had some optimism about the votefraud furor. There was a short period when Kerry's obviously delinquent non-response to the situation was opening eyes to the fact that he is a sellout and corrupt insider, and many new voices seemed to be sounding off about "Kerry the traitor" and so forth. I hoped that a significant amount of vote fraud activism might continue to move in this direction, and there would be more really tough criticism and scrutiny of the Democratic party and its leadership, but this isn't how things turned out. This is not to say that I don't think there is worth or purpose to anti-votefraud activism on its own terms, but it doesn't mesh in its current partisan and narrow form (for the most part) with 9/11 truthseeking, which in my view absolutely requires a broader view, not only in terms of current politics but also in terms of the last century (and more ) of history which has set the stage for what is happening now. This requires looking at networks and conspiracies of power that reach deeply into both parties — and that's just the start. So I'm wary of this coalition just because of the ways that it could be limiting, not to mention the specific strategies that have been proposed and are well critiqued in the above essay. For now, I think it's wiser to let each movement do its own thing and not get into a coalition that would significantly affect strategy and messages.

"WHY THE FAMILIES ARE WRONG, DEAD WRONG" (alternate link)

At an earlier stage, those who expressed concerns about the potential negative effects of linking 9/11 truthseeking too closely with the cause of the victims' families, based on fears that this could water down the fundamental issues, were dismissed as "ideologues", "unrealistic", "irresponsible", etc. Well, it's "I told you so" time. This one speaks for itself. No one wanted things to turn out this way, but this is reality now.
